Highlights along Rhine & Moselle 2013

This is our small selection of outstanding events in 2013. Do you need any other reason to travel to the Rhine and Moselle region? The large Wittelsbach Exhibition and the Elephant Parade in Trier are only two key attractions.

The impressive landscape of the "Upper Middle Rhine Valley" UNESCO world cultural heritage and the relics of the history of Koblenz going back more than 2,000 years are a worthy stage for the eagerly awaited Romanticum. Visitors can look forward to a never before seen interactive experience exhibition on Rhine romanticism (also in English!) in the heart of the city. The exhibition opens on 20 June. Guests board an ambitiously staged imaginary steamer to set off on a romantic virtual journey on the Rhine River with its enthralling myths and legends. The Romanticum exhibition is on show in the "Forum Confluentes", a building already considered to be an architectural masterpiece today.

Wittelsbach Year in 2013

3 March - 27 October 2013

As part of the Wittelsbach Year in 2013, the Historical Palatinate Museum in Speyer is dedicating a special exhibition to the Palatinate region under Bavarian rule in the period from 1816 to 1918 (Wittelsbach people on the Rhine. The Electoral Palatinate and Europe.).

Other exhibition locations

Villa Ludwigshöhe  - This is where, in 2013, the people of Wittelsbach will be presented as regents and building owners under the Bavarian monarchy. Among the many castles and palaces in Rhineland-Palatinate, Villa Ludwigshöhe  is particularly striking.
